Manukau Heads Lighthouse
One of Awhitu's key attractions is the restored Manukau Heads Lighthouse. The Lighthouse overlooks the Manukau Harbour Bar and entrance and has sweeping views towards Auckland.

Awhitu Farm Gate Sales
The Awhitu Peninsula is a large tract of rural land located near Auckland City. Apart from a few coastal settlements most of this land is rural. To service this area there is only only one general store and garage. However on the way up the peninsula there are lots of places offering farm gate sales.
Organic produce , herbs, free range eggs, blueberries, honey and wine are some of the gate-sale produce you will find on your visit here. Also nurseries and the odd craft store.

Awhitu Creative Talent
Awhitu is known for it's creative talent . In its recent past Awhitu with it's aesthetic environment reasonable land prices and has attracted more than it's fair share of creative talent establishing a a strong creative community. Artworks may be found at the Pollok Coop and the Awhitu Country markets as well as various resident Art galleries which can be viewed by appointment. Check out the creative talent section

Awhitu's newest artist consorium in 2010 and you are invited for a taste
27th February - Basic Felt Making
This course will be taught by two local instructors - Liz LaSorsa and Virginia Christensen . This offering will teach students the basics of preparing raw or carded wool and working it until it is transformed into a finished piece of felt to take home. The four hour lesson will cover many details and techniques for felting. All supplies along with a $10 basic starter kit for this class will be included in the course. There will be additional supplies and kits for sale for those who wish to buy extra materials
